Veterans World Issue No 10
On 27 June each year all Veterans are celebrated for the contribution that they have made to their country. The celebrations specifically bring to the fore those transferable skills and experiences that Veterans both young and old have gained throughout their Service life and now bring to their civilian workplaces and communities. January 29th saw Derek Twigg, Minister for Veterans, announce that Blackpool’s bid to host the National event to celebrate Veterans Day was successful. The bid submitted by Blackpool Council, in association with the Fylde Ex-Service Liaison Committee, was part of its annual Veterans’ Week celebrations, 21-29 June, and won against stiff competition from other towns and cities nationwide. |
