BAFD supports...The Tattoo Bracknell
|
The Tattoo a unique event will bring together a mix of Military & Civilian Bands as well as exciting display teams in a spectacle of precision and colour will be staged at the Bracknell Leisure Centre on Saturday 6th March 2010 in support of Help for Heroes
Roger Sheppard organiser of the event confirms that this will bring together a unique mix of Military & Civilian Bands ( including the Reading Scottish Pipe Band, HMS Heron Volunteer Band, Band & Bugles of the Rifles ). The word Tattoo comes from the Dutch term Doe den tap toe which literally means ‘Turn off the taps’. It dates from the seventeenth century when the British Army were fighting in the Low Countries (Belgium and The Netherlands). Drummers from the garrison were sent out into the towns at 21:30hrs each evening to inform the soldiers that it was time to return to barracks. The process was known as Doe den tap toe and encouraged the inn keepers to ‘turn off the taps’, stop serving beer and send the soldier’s home for the night. The drummers continued to play until the curfew at 22:00hrs. Tickets for The Tattoo are available from the SEE Tickets Website or by calling 0871 2200 260. There will be two performances, Matinee at 14:30hrs and Evening at 19:30hrs, each performance will last approximately two hours. Tickets for both performances are priced at: •£16 (£14 for concessions*) for Reserved Seats •£10 (£8 for concessions*) for Unreserved Bench Seating *Concessions are available for Seniors, under 16's and serving members of the armed forces. Family tickets are also available in the unreserved sections priced at £32 for two adults and two children.
